Using the Data Mapper

Updated 2026-04Essential reading

If your existing spreadsheets use different column names than DPP Cloud's CSV template, the data mapper lets you create a mapping profile that translates your columns to DPP Cloud fields โ€” so you can import without reformatting.

โ„น๏ธPaid subscription required

The data mapper is included in all DPP Cloud paid subscriptions. Demo accounts use the standard CSV template only.

What the data mapper does

The data mapper sits between your CSV file and the import engine. It takes your column headers (e.g., "Battery Model Name", "Manufacturing Country", "CO2 Footprint") and maps them to DPP Cloud's expected fields (e.g., "product_name", "manufacturing_place", "carbon_footprint_kgco2e").

Once you create a mapping profile, you can reuse it for every import โ€” no need to rename columns in your spreadsheet each time.

Creating a mapping profile

1

Go to Import โ†’ Data Mapper

Click Import in the sidebar, then select the Data Mapper tab.

1

Upload a sample file

Upload a CSV with your column headers. DPP Cloud reads the headers but does not import any data at this step.

1

Map each column

For each column in your file, select the corresponding DPP Cloud field from the dropdown. DPP Cloud will auto-suggest matches based on column name similarity. Review and correct any suggestions.

1

Configure value mappings (optional)

If your data uses different values than DPP Cloud expects (e.g., "Electric Vehicle" instead of "EV"), you can add value mappings for specific fields. The mapper will convert values automatically during import.

1

Save the profile

Give your mapping profile a name (e.g., "ERP Export Format" or "Factory A Template") and save it.

Applying a mapping profile on import

When you upload a CSV on the Import page, DPP Cloud checks if any saved mapping profiles match the file's column headers. If a match is found, it is applied automatically. You can also select a profile manually from the dropdown before importing.

Editing and deleting profiles

Mapping profiles are managed in Import โ†’ Data Mapper. You can edit a profile to add new column mappings, update value translations, or rename it. Deleting a profile does not affect previously imported passports.
