The EU DPP Registry โ€” What It Is and When It Goes Live

Updated 2026-04Essential reading

What is the EU DPP Registry?

The EU DPP registry is the central European Commission database that holds references to all Battery Passports. It is being developed under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1346.

The registry does not store the full passport data โ€” it stores a reference (URL) to the passport hosted by the economic operator's chosen platform (such as DPP Cloud).

When does it launch?

The registry is expected to launch in July 2026. The EU Battery Regulation's DPP mandate takes effect on 18 February 2027.

Phase 3 โ€” Battery Passport Mandatory

Every EV battery, industrial battery >2 kWh, and LMT battery on the EU market requires a registered DPP. No DPP = cannot clear EU customs.

What DPP Cloud does until July 2026

DPP Cloud operates in mock submission mode:

  • Your passport data is stored and fully ready for submission
  • When you click "Submit to EU Registry", a mock submission reference is created
  • No data is sent to any external system in mock mode
  • All mock references are stored and will be used for live resubmission when the registry opens
โ„น๏ธNo action required when the registry goes live

DPP Cloud automatically switches to live mode and resubmits all your active passports when the EU registry launches in July 2026.

Can I demonstrate compliance before July 2026?

Yes. Your DPP Cloud passports are fully compliant with the Annex XIII data requirements right now. The QR code and public viewer work immediately. The only missing element is the registry reference number โ€” which cannot exist until the registry launches. Show OEM or procurement teams the live public viewer as evidence of DPP readiness.
