How DPP Cloud billing works — platform fee and per-passport activation
Two-part pricing
DPP Cloud charges in two parts:
- Annual platform subscription — one fixed fee per year, covers your entire organisation and all platform features.
- Per-passport activation — a per-passport fee charged each time you activate a passport (make it publicly scannable with a live QR code). Billed monthly based on usage, with graduated pricing as your volume grows.
Annual platform subscription
The platform subscription includes everything:
- Unlimited passport creation
- GS1 Digital Link QR codes
- EU registry submission
- Compliance certificate PDFs
- Bidirectional data mapper (all import and export formats)
- SFTP, FTP, and webhook delivery
- Team access (up to 10 seats)
- REST API access
- Document upload and supply chain tracking
- Email support
Per-passport activation pricing
Each time you activate a passport — making it live and publicly scannable — it counts as one activation. Activations are billed monthly using a graduated band structure that resets each billing period.
Example: If you activate 600 passports in a billing period, the first 500 are billed at £25 each (£12,500) and the next 100 at £18 each (£1,800). Total activation cost: £14,300 plus the platform fee.
What counts as an activation
A passport is activated when you use the Activate button on a passport record. Activation:
- Sets the passport status to Active
- Generates the public QR code URL
- Makes the passport visible at the public viewer (dppcloud.co.uk/p/...)
- Triggers the billing usage record
Drafts, completed passports, submitted passports, and revoked passports are not counted.
